Many people in the media these days do much negative talk on rap music. Yes, they're entitled to having their own unique of opinions, but most times these people show their ignorance of rap in their criticism of it. Crying about the words they say and the effect that rap has on children, causing women to become whores and men to become pimps. All the violence in the ghettos across this country was caused by young men who listened to rap music. People will get 5 minutes of facetime on CNN, FOX news, and other news stations will delightfully put a camera on any dingbat willing to get on the air and boo hoo on how rap is tearing this society down.
They pull couple of lines from afew songs and present that as evidence of rap's damage to the community. Trying to convince the public that certain words that are considered explicit, when put in a rap song, will turn any mild mannnered good kid into a gun toting thugged out pimp who'll terrorize the streets of America.
Anyone with the sense of a grain of salt can see the silliness in crap those people are talking.
The artists of popular rap, like any other artist in pop music, make the songs that guys running the label want them to make. The men wearing the suits, sitting behind desks, want the rap artists to make songs that will sell. Not songs that they think will sell, but songs that fit the pattern of what's selling now! If the rapper make songs that sell poorly, then that rapper will get booted from that label.
Before that rapper hits the curb the guys in the suits will recruit a million more rappers ready to take the other guys place.
In popular music its all about the dollers. Its entertainment. Nice and wholesome is not interesting to anyone over 12, so you got to play the game if you wanna roll with the big doggs.
Those phoney moralists should be able to see the logic, its so simple.
The people who support rump shaking, pimp out, studio thugging music buy it in great numbers, so as long as the sales are high the guys in suits will continue to sell it. In econ 101, they refered to it as supply and demand.
I don't want pop rappers to change the content of their songs as result of pressure from special interest groups because that's just being a sellout! (To the rappers) Guys hold your ground on that one!
These rap artists are only role models for their own children. I don't expect Snoop, 50, E40, and Jay Z to raise my sons and daughters because its my responsibility. I buy their clothes, food, pay rent, pay bills, and take them to the doctor when their ill. These rappers are not there to do those things for my children and I don't expect them to be. I want to be the role model, hero, and person my kids look up to. Parents need to be active with their kids and stop letting the tv raise their kids. Get involved in their lives and show them that you care. Learn what they watch & listen to on the tv, ipod, cell, and internet. Stand and be accountable to your own kids because its not job of rappers! Parents, handle your business at home!
