I'm going to place a link from an article that highlights 14 different careers that people routinely earned well above 100,000 a year that don't require 4yr degree. Politicians and the like will get on TV, blaming about the importance of graduating from college and the 10s of 1000s dollars more college graduate make compared to people with only high school diplomas. They don't talk about unemployed people who hold a BA, BS, MBA and drowning in 100s of 1000s in debt. Not to mention that whatever job you get, degree or not, the employer will still have to train the applicant.
I'm not against people going to college and getting degrees, but it's deceiving to make it seem like getting one will make you rich. It won't and most times, graduates won't walk off the stage and into full time employment the next day. Maybe 1 or 2 people might have it like that, but most will have to do some serious job hunting.
If they really want to increase college enroll they should lower the costs, cut out all the GEs and let students take courses that pertain to their major, and a high paying job should be guaranteed to all graduates.
