Folks, We Got To Get Our Own Stuff

This is for all of my people out there. I got love for all people, especially those who show love to me. This post is going out to Black people because we need to get our act together. It's ok to have a few sport stars, famous entertainers, and high profile politicians but that don't help the working class.

The brothers & sisters who doing 40hr weeks are struggling to keep their heads above water. It's tough trying keep shelter, food, clothes, and stay current on all the bills. Just one pay check from everything just going down the drain. The news got you uptight because the company you work for are cutting 10,000 jobs and your head might be on the chopping block.

These are some real jacked up times and things will most likely get worst before they get better. Don't go jump the Golden Gate Bridge! Ease down, pray & meditate, keep your wits, and take it one day at a time. Stay strong and we'll ride it out. For those who want to do more than wait and hope for the best, you could try to start your own business.

It brutal economically, but the seeds for recovery are in place. The government is about to pump oceans of money into the system, interests are already rock bottom, and opportunities are there for the creative ones to take advantage of. You just might mess around become a success story!

As a community we need more Black business owners. Besides Barber shops and Beauty Salons, everything else in Black neighborhoods is owned by other people. I'm happy for those groups, but Black people have got theirs too.

Those other groups make their money and share it with their own people, which is a good thing. I'm not knocking them, because you should be able to break bread with your own people. There's nothing wrong with that. I believe we should do the same thing. Lets have our businesses in the mix with theirs, so we can spread the wealth amongst our own.

I'm not just talking about it. I've started mine and it's been a tough grind, but slowly things are coming together in my favor. I see a bright light at the end of the tunnel. The profits I earn will be reinvested Oakland, CA. Oakland is my town and I see the potential for greatness in it. I love it and I don't pay any attention to the media's skewed perception of it. I'm proud to be a Black Oaklandien!

To Decide How To Feel

Early New Year's day, an unarmed man, Oscar Grant was murdered by a BART Police Officer at the Fruitvale BART Station in Oakland, CA. The episode was caught on numerous video cameras and from what I seen, the officer had no reason to shoot Mr. Grant.

The aftermath of this incident has been pretty crazy. The officer resigned and him, his family has went into hiding. The BART, OPD, and city DA has all dragged their feet in trying to bring closure to the family of the recently departed. The Mayor was basically on the sidelines until a peace rally turned into a mini rebellion.

The media's been milking this story for everything because its a hot button issue. No matter how much you hear or read about America getting over racism, in reality, we all know that racism is still a gigantic problem in America.

You go to youtube, yahoo, google, and any other place that allow people to put their 2 cents in, you'll witness just how divided Black and whites are.

I've noticed from reading posts from White folks that believe that Blacks are reacting. They believe that Blacks should wait and let the justice system work it out. Then to add injury to insult, they say since we don't get outraged over Black on Black crime, we can't get outraged over a cop murdering a Black man lying face down on the ground. I can't speak for other Black people, but for me, there's a couple of things, in there, that just don't sit well with me.

The first is that White people feel way too comfortable telling Black people how they should act. That's a major problem and the one of the most sure fire ways that a White person can show us that they're a racist bastard. It's cool to voice your opinions, but don't tell us how we should act or react. We know what's best for us.

The second thing is that some White people have a knack for throwing things in that have nothing to do with the issue. In this instance it happens to be Black on Black crime. I'm aware, all Blacks are aware, and probably every person living in America is aware of crimes committed by Blacks against other Blacks. It's so popular that they coined a catch phrase to capture the essence of this phenomenon and it's called "Black on Black" crime.

But here's the question: What does it have to do with this issue? Absolutely nothing! It's unrelated. They're trying to use it to divert our attention from the fact that a police officer murdered a unarmed man in cold blood, while hundreds of people with video cameras watched in both awe and dismay.

My people, please think!
